This year is my fourth at Lake Ridge Elementary. I moved to Woodbridge in the summer of 2008 from Derry, a small town in southwestern Pennsylvania, where I was born and raised. I attended Seton Hill University where I earned my Bachelors degree in psychology as well as my teaching certification in elementary and early childhood education. I continued on at Seton Hill and earned my Masters degree in elementary education. I also completed the graduate coursework for certification in special education. I taught in Pennsylvania before coming to Virginia. Prior to teaching, I worked in healthcare for 8 years.
I love teaching kindergarten! It is truly my calling! I love seeing how much my students grow and change throughout the year. I feel very fortunate to be part of such a wonderful school family and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be!
My mom and step-dad live in Derry. My younger brother and his wife live in Chicago. They had a baby girl in January, so I'm an aunt for the first time! The rest of my extended family is spread out across the country. I live with my fuzzy “children”, my cats, Lexi, Leah, and Lilah. In my free time I enjoy cooking, baking, running, reading and playing the piano. I’ve been playing since I was 6 years old and enjoy it very much. I also play several other instruments. Being from the Pittsburgh area, I am a Steelers fan and never miss a game!
I am looking forward to getting to know my students and their families. It’s going to be a great year!
